Canada, the Third Day
Sunday, May 17, 2009I woke up later, around 9 in the morning, and enjoyed a long shower and an even longer breakfast. The funny thing about eating with your relatives, you hear the craziest stories about your family. I learned that our ancestors originated from Argentina. They took a boat to Bulacan and on the way, their boat developed a hole. Supposedly an eel came up through that very spot and saved the Pangindians.
Which is why male Pangindians aren't allowed to eat eel.
And why I think I should visit Argentina one day and search for long lost relatives.
Anyway, the wedding was today. Outdoors, next to a huge gulf course that seemed to span an entire forest and, on top of that, the landscape was designed by the groom himself. The weather was perfect for a wedding and it went off without a hitch! Except for the late limo and consequently, the hour-late bride. Or, when the second reading mentioned animals, two big, honking geese flew in and created noise that lasted a good fiften minutes. And let's not forget the rest of the guests waving goodbye to the newlyweds until a woman stopped everything and announced that everyone had forgotten the lighting of the unity candle. I didn't realize there was so many mini ceremonies that needed to be taken care of.
It would be another three hours before reception would start. I was faced with nothing but sitting in a chair and staring into the distance until then. Luckily, I had a roomie who had her cellphone on her and the time to keep me entertained. Turns out it was mutual because it was her younger sister's confirmation. Thank you my friend!
The reception that followed was enjoyable. The main course, the dessert, everything just sort of came together and I left completely satisfied. Maybe not completely, since my feet are still smarting from those heels.
