Weekend Thoughts

Happy Easter! I decided to bake an entire salmon filet on Friday as my indulgence for the weekend. I couldn't resist purchasing a miniature blueberry crumble pie as well (didn't quite make it to actual Easter since I finished it—down to the last crumb!—yesterday evening. Also, I sauteed some chicken tenderloins and pierogis as toppings for the salad I plan to eat for dinners this week. While it sounds like I've been a busy-bee in the kitchen, I've been the opposite with keeping my attention in my studies! Mostly in part due to several exciting developments:

First, found an apartment in the city!
It's right in Wicker Park, close to the line and the highway! Walking distance to quite a few shops that I'm already picturing myself dropping by in (delicious shawarmas, pizzas, gelato, etc.) I'll have two roommates from my program with me to tackle that Chicago city rent.

Second, got my first draft for rotations starting in May!
Starting the clinical year with Family Medicine! My internal medicine rotation is supposed to follow it which was a slight bummer as I was hoping to have that later in my clinical year. Honestly, still don't care too much as I'm just pumped to get on with the clinical year.

Third, I purchased two dresses online so I could have options for the white coat ceremony!

I won't even think about heels at this point until I receive the dresses in the mail. Trying hard to keep to the shoes in my possession but it's not a very large collection (read: comfortable). One of the many things to add to the list is to invest in more comfortable strappy heels.

And that about sums up the highlights of the weekend. I have my first exam in Emergency Medicine tomorrow and my CSE this Friday. I'm unsure as to how prepared I am for it but I've been practicing a couple cases with Ben so that should keep the blind-siding incidents to a minimum... right? I also signed up for performing glucose tests at a church (the very same church I did health screenings at two weeks ago). I was hesitant to sign up because I have two exams following that weekend but I'm hoping that will spur me on to study much harder during the week.

New goal? Dig deep to find that resolve and push through!
