Lipsticks

I'm most definitely obsessed with anything lip-related: lipsticks, lipstains, lip butters, lipgloss, etc. I probably have all the lipsticks I'm going to need for awhile but there's always that temptation to try a new lipstick. As glamorous as all these photos are of ombre lips or vibrant colors like purple, blue, etc., I just want to aim for lipsticks that always stay flattering. Isn't that what all girls aim for? My lips are in the warm category, maybe a deep rose? For lips of this shade, I found a suggestion that Laura Mercier's Rosewood lipstick would be a super flattering shade. It does look divine (and I might have a wallet friendly version from L'Oreal's Colour Riche Balm in that exact shade), doesn't it? Btw, the lipstick is swatched to the side, it's not already on the lips.

These are my lips. Okay they're not. But they're the closest to my shade of lips.

It's a good piece of advice if you have the urge to buy a lipstick but don't want to be stuck with something that washes you out or seems more suited for Halloween. Just from experience, as long as the lipsticks are half a shade to a shade darker than my natural lips, it'll be fine. Over the summer, I did play around with several different coral lipsticks—which can get a bit tricky because they can turn out really pink on the wrong lips—but keeping in mind the natural undertones of your lips could make most lipsticks look like the perfect match.

Anyway, I'm writing about this because I ventured out on a whim (I had a coupon...) and tried a matte lipstick (NYX MLS19 'Euro Trash' Matte Lipstick). I'm not sure if it was the best choice because the color seems to wash out my face. Keeping in mind that its matte, that might have been expected. I'm going to fiddle around with lip liners just to see if I can inject a little bit of color (I don't want the purchase to be a waste, even if it was pretty cheap!).

And on an unrelated note, a quick personal update:

I'VE BEEN SICK SINCE FRIDAY.
I have a handful of 100s on the most recent exams. :)
I finally watched Melancholia and Another Planet (not intentional that they involve planets...).
I've been baking rolls almost every other weekend (mixed berry rolls, nutella rolls, etc.).
I'VE BEEN SICK SINCE FRIDAY. UGH.
