More to Stress Relief
Monday, February 07, 2011As part of our stress management class, our professor wants her students to do 10 stress relief activities before each exam. She wrote out 35 activities and expects a total of 25 to be handed in by the end of the semester. Sounds simple enough, right? While I agree that it doesn't cost an arm or a leg to complete, I find that assigning an activity for stress relief is doing the exact opposite. I managed to cross off 'do a random act of kindness' but there's really nothing random about it, is there? The fact that we have to turn these in for a grade kind of destroys the point of stress relief, doesn't it? In any case, I'm not arguing for the removal of this activity because it is easy points. However, I can't help but feel like it's a hassle at times.
I had a major stomachache today but Hippo (short for Hippocrates) saw to it that I was looked after (by dozing on my lap while I tried to doze myself). Also later tonight—after another long officer meeting—Liz, Connie and I stopped by Common Grounds to cross off the 'grab coffee with a friend' assignment. I guess I won't begrudge the assignment since the hot butterscotch was a nice addition to this very chilly night.
