Belated Birthday Trip
Tuesday, March 18, 2014Despite my promises to write more than two posts in February, it happened anyway. Well, now is a good time as any, though, to catch up. Ben and I finally celebrated my birthday by going on a road trip to San Antonio. It was a real treat, from beginning to end.
The place we stayed at was Wyndham St. Anthony Riverwalk. The night we arrived, there was a newlywed couple checking in as well. I felt a teensy bit envious when I looked over at them. It's a feeling that comes over me more frequently, especially when it seems like every month or so I'm hearing about some new engagement or wedding. On top of that, there are two more weddings to attend to in the summer so I guess it seems hard to escape the thoughts...
Anyway, back to the trip. I was sure to take plenty of footage (this time on an old camera, instead of my cell phone) and compiled a video. Saves me the time of writing a huge post with too many photos.
Returning back to work was a sad reminder for both of us that we're still a long way before we can have vacations like this. I've helped Ben look over his scheduling for 4th year so maybe we'll find time to plan a proper vacation then. Fingers crossed!
Oh and I should mention that we also enjoyed a lovely dinner for St. Patrick's day (which was yesterday)! Since I didn't do anything for Mardi Gras, it felt good to catch even this small holiday. More importantly, as thanks for picking Ben up from work, he said we should eat at Sky Bar for dinner. It's a cozy little place that had most of the tables filled by the time we got there. The water they served was bright green too! Punctuating that statement with an exclamation point is a little misleading because we were both a little taken aback at the coloring dye that undoubtedly went into this tap water...

But water aside, it really was a cool experience. We ordered a gyoza and shumai platter for appetizer. Ben ordered the special 'Leprechaun' sushi and I ordered the 'Scorpion' roll. We had room for happy hour dessert: tempura banana with vanilla ice cream! All together, a very satisfying meal.
I've been wanting to post more often but I keep finding reasons to do something else. I'll put more effort into keeping this place active. It's a promise!
