Sweetness
Wednesday, April 18, 2018There was no self-imposed isolation in terms of updating this blog, merely just exhaustion from moving across the country and settling down in a new job, new apartment, and all the things one must adjust to when starting the next chapter (next book?) in one's life. Writing this post now, at this hour, happened at a whim. I would like to take the time to organize my thoughts to discuss what the past 3 and 1/2 months have been like, which I could have done instead of writing out what I would like to do...
I've actually been sick every couple of weeks since I started working at the hospital, just bigger and badder germs hanging about and my frail immune system is slowly working its way up. I had always wanted to work as a hospitalist and now that I'm in it, I'm loving it and also losing a lot of sleep over it. There's a lot of things to learn, not always easily found in a textbook, so I find myself still adjusting to the new way of things. I hear from my colleagues that this is standard and boy, what wouldn't I give to take a peek at what life looks like in 6 months.
For exciting things these past months, I think the only two things worth mentioning was this Food&Wine Festival in the city, which was basically endless amounts of brunch food (for me, endless amounts of escargot) and bottomless glasses of wine (I stuck with my rosé). Ben and I also checked out a nearby anime/game convention. No cosplay was done but just wanted to get our feet wet and see what it was all about. I think the best thing was walking away with this neat water color painting of Miyazaki characters and seeing Jeff Goldblum at a distance.
Next month, I'll be flying to South Korea to attend a friend's wedding. Made plans to linger for a couple days there and a quick trip to Taiwan before I head back to work on the same day. I'm hoping the time difference will help me acclimate to the night shift that day. We shall see...
Perhaps for a separate post, I can talk about the new job and all the anxieties that go with it. For now, I'd rather just say hey, I'm here, I'm alive, and I'm enjoying where I'm at in my life. It's a new kind of happiness, a sweetness that lingers, despite how busy work can be. Here's to that sweetness lingering a little longer. Until next time.
