1st EOR Recap
Sunday, July 10, 2016I finished my first rotation and end of rotation exam this past Friday. What a doozy! There were a lot of topics to cover for this rotation, given how broad the specialty is. I was uncertain about how I would do when I submitted the exam but when the results came out, I was happy! Tomorrow, I start my next rotation in Internal Medicine. I had meant to post this closer to the end of the rotation so I could have a separate post about my thoughts for internal... but that didn't exactly work out.
Some final thoughts about Family Medicine? 6 weeks and working 9-5 for most days was not as tiring as I thought it would be. Yes, I felt exhausted on some days, and yes, there were a lot of repeat cases, but overall I was still able to see a myriad of conditions and treat patients of all different ages. I think the youngest I took care of was around 4 weeks and the oldest was in the 90s. I can see myself working in this area of medicine which bodes well for when I consider what areas I'm interested in working in. I was also more than able to have a social life on the weekends (as evidenced in the collage below.)
I'm looking forward to heading into Internal Medicine next because it sounds like a better fit for my personality and where I would like to work. I'm going in with an open mind so I'll see how the next six weeks fare.
