Little Updates

I was supposed to have my first go at jury duty today. I even packed cream cheese in a blueberry bagel to snack on later. But when I got there, I was told the clients decided to settle and that was all. Done! Looks like my foray into performing my civic duty was as easy as blinking my eyes. Before I get into these updates, here's one of the songs I've been jamming to:

So I've been busy working and managing supplemental applications. An exciting piece of news is an unofficial invitation for an interview! The school has only received my primary app and is urging me to send in the rest so they can send me an official interview invitation! More details to follow once it's an official interview but as I'm more than a little excited about this piece of news... had to mention it here! It's an out-of-state school which came as a surprise as I don't know how good my chances are as an out-of-state resident. I hope I hear back favorably from the other schools too!

These days, I'm spending my time somewhat leisurely. When I'm not working, I drive to a nearby hospice and visit residents. The visits are always very peaceful and the place is very near to the ferry so I can always hear it honking in the distance. Recently, where I live is practically teeming with tourists! Seeing people lugging around suitcases has made slightly green with envy. I hope I'll be flying around the country soon too for those interviews.

Ben and I have also begun training for a 5K! Following a regimen that was posted on Mayo Clinic, we've been running on a track outside. We're debating if we should downgrade to 3K for our first race but we're still debating. It's Week 4 of our training so far and I'm feeling really good about our progress (we ran a little more than 4 miles this past Saturday). I'll have to keep up the running while he's doing his away rotations but I don't see that being a huge obstacle. I've been wearing a stopwatch for these runs but I may be looking into an armband or something so I can listen to music while I run on the track. In the meantime, I've heard of some interesting 5Ks in the country like the (1) Hot Chocolate Run (2) Krispy Kreme Challenge (3) Wicked Wine Run, to name a few. That they're all related to food is purely coincidental, promise.

I'm tackling that Spanish again, this time with some aid from a native speaker that works with me. Her first language is Spanish so I think I have a strong resource, eh? And through my shadowing, I'm learning to interpret EKGs and getting used to listening to heart/lung sounds. My days are really full of learning and relaxing. I don't really how know to express my gratitude for where I am and what I am doing but keeping this blog moderately current is a good start. Until next time!
