Haircut & Art Class!

I've been hinting at getting a haircut soon and finally took the chance earlier this morning! Found an Aveda Hair salon that was somewhat close to my place and I am happy to call this one a keeper! Ben waited patiently inside while my tresses were trimmed. I had nothing to worry about, I was in good hands. They also gave me a mini Rosemary Mint conditioner that honestly smells divine! Love rosemary scented items :) I'm super satisfied with the cut and should book my next appointment once I get my work schedule figured out. In my giddiness, I couldn't resist snapping a few shots of the interior. Below those photos are my Before and After photos of my new haircut.

As we looked for a place to eat lunch nearby, we passed a sign that said there was going to be a grand opening in one hour at this art and wine studio. Figuring we could drop by after eating burgers across the street, we had no idea how lucky we were going to be!

After lunch, we waltzed into the open doors and one of the employees told us we were one of the first 15 to enter so we got to have a door prize each. Inside each bag was a rather large wine scented soy candle hand-poured into a re-purposed wine bottle. I still haven't crossed the hump that is enjoying red wine, but these candles smell really good. I'm sort of torn between lighting them now or saving them for later... They were also doing a raffle for the next two hours so Ben and I entered our names in. But the best part was that the grand opening allowed the first fifteen to come in and have a chance to paint their own canvas FOR FREE! It usually costs $35 per person but we didn't have to pay a cent! What an awesome deal!

The canvases were all pre-sketched by some of the employees, so they gave all of us these paints and instructed us on how to best paint the photo. My canvas was supposed to depict a winter bird but another employee showed me a painting of a spring bird and said I should use the colors from there. Even though it's not the same photo, I used the same colors. Even though it is winter, I really love the green background that I ended up painting in. I thought Ben's painting of a dog was super cute so both paintings are now hanging in my room. I mentioned there was a raffle too, didn't I? Well, Ben won a vase and a certificate for a FREE CLASS. Lucky guy! This means we get another chance to try this place out! I'm excited, especially since I found out they have canvas shoes that you can paint together and wear afterward. Sounds like a really interesting birthday party...

Starting next week, I should be busy with training and beginning work as a scribe. I'm looking forward to the new things I'll learn, and hopefully that will be something I can update the schools about. The anxiety I've been wrestling with for the past months has abated a little. I'm trying to come to terms with how the next couple of months may determine how the rest of next year will play out. I don't really know where things can go from here but what I can focus on is the work I'll be starting soon. I really wish I could take a peek into the future to see if everything works out, but I'll just have to sit tight for now and hope for the best.
