Couple of Updates

I realized that I never got around to blogging about my new glasses, even though I said I would in a previous post. So here it is! They're bigger, more square, and I'm definitely loving the subtle tortoise shell coloring of the frames. My prescription didn't change too much from last year's so I suppose I'll be keeping my old pair as a back-up.
I made a huge sopapilla cheesecake on Friday to bring to Ben so he could have dessert while he studied for his boards. Even though he had a lot of studying to do, we did get a chance to try out a place one of his friends recommended: Medicinal Purposes Bar & Grill. The bar's name originates from the United States' legislative decision prohibiting the sale of alcohol in 1919. Whiskey could be obtained by prescription from medical doctors, with labels like... you guessed it, 'medicinal purposes.'
I was pleasantly surprised to find this bar & grill on the intersection of a neighborhood. There are lot of neat places nestled among old homes in rundown neighborhoods, something I'm quickly coming to terms with. Anyway, as soon as you walk into this grill, you see their daily specials plus a special welcomer.
The special at the time was Jester's Jambalaya with two sides. We agreed on southern brown sugar green beans and sweet potato fries. We split everything between us and we both inhaled our portions! The owner of the place told us about other special deals depending on the day, and we promised to come back another day. I was craving some ice cream and warm cookies after, which reminded Ben of a place a different friend of his recommended: Hey Mikey's Ice Cream. It was very close to the bar and grill, also found in a place you wouldn't expect. If I could get the girls rounded up, I would want to take them here too.
There were interesting flavors like chipotle chocolate and peach cherry. The moment I tried the Kahlua heath and the Irish cream though, I was completely sold. A scoop of both flavors shared between us was a sweet end to a tasty dinner. We got back home fairly late and hadn't run into Tuan or his girlfriend, Violet. But we later learned there was a good reason for that—he was busy PROPOSING TO HER! I'm happy for the both of them! Not for the first time, I feel like I'm getting bombarded with wedding signs everywhere! In any case, the wedding won't be ready until next year so I have some time to prepare!
Then again, there is a wedding I should be attending in February next year. One of Ben's cousins, who I'm somewhat familiar with, is having her wedding in Canada. More specifically, Victoria! Coincidence that all my family is there too? I hope I can stop by and say hello to them while I'm there. But first things first, need to help Ben get his passport (haha).
I'm attending a webinar session tomorrow for UNTHSC's PA program. I hope it will be informative for those who have already applied and need to know about their waiting process. I'm getting nervous the more time passes but I'm trying my best to stay focused. Please let me get an interview!
